CSK have also retained star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana and India all-rounder Shivam Dube. Jadeja and Gaikwad are the top two retentions for CSK and have both been retained for Rs 18 crore each. Pathirana has been retained for Rs 14 crore while Dube has been paid Rs 12 crore to continue with the Men in Yellow in IPL 2025.

As expected, Dhoni has been retained uncapped and will be paid Rs 4 crore for the next season. The BCCI had reinstated the uncapped player rule ahead of the IPL 2025 which allowed a franchise to retain an Indian player, who has retired or not played international cricket for 5 years as uncapped. Despite being 43, Dhoni remains a vital cog for CSK and is set to continue for them without hurting their purse.

CSK retained players list for IPL 2025:

Ruturaj Gaikwad – Rs 18 crore

Ravindra Jadeja – Rs 18 crore

Matheesha Pathirana – Rs 14 crore

Shivam Dube – Rs 12 crore

MS Dhoni – Rs 4 crore

Rs 18 crore each for Gaikwad and Jadeja

Former captain Jadeja and current CSK skipper Gaikwad have both been paid Rs 18 crore by the five-time champions. While Gaikwad has been given the no.1 slot, Jadeja has been retained in the 4th slot for the same amount. Gaikwad took over captaincy from Dhoni ahead of IPL 2023 and did well as the leader of the Men in Yellow.

The opening batter has also been one of CSK’s most consistent performers with the bat over the last few years and played a key role in their title triumphs in IPL 2021 and IPL 2023. Gaikwad has so far scored 2380 runs in 66 matches for CSK at an excellent average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 136.86. Jadeja has been with CSK for 11 seasons since 2012 and has been one of their key players over the years.

The star all-rounder has retired from T20Is but is likey to continue for CSK for another few years in he IPL. CSK have rewarded Pathirana for his impressive performances by retaining him for Rs 14 crore. The young Sri Lankan pacer, who has been developed by CSK, delivered impressive performances during the team’s title-winning run in IPL 2023.

Pathirana’s slingy action and ability to nail yorkers in death overs make him a rare commodity and thus CSK have decided not to take the risk of letting him go into the auction. Dube, who has been a transformed cricketer ever since joining CSK in IPL 2022, has been exception with the bat in the middle order for the five-time champions and will hope to continue his fine form after being retained.
