Congress’s EAGLE to oversee electoral integrity, probe ‘voter list manipulation’ in Maharashtra

New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday announced the formation of an Empowered Action Group of Leaders and Experts (EAGLE) with immediate effect. The group, comprising senior leaders and experts, has been tasked with overseeing the conduct of free and fair elections by the Election Commission.

The EAGLE committee includes senior Congress leaders like Ajay Maken, Digvijaya Singh, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Praveen Chakravarty, Pawan Khera, Gurdeep Singh Sappal, Nitin Raut, and Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy. Their immediate focus will be on investigating allegations of voters’ list manipulation in Maharashtra. The committee will prepare and submit a detailed report on the issue to the party leadership at the earliest.

Beyond Maharashtra, EAGLE will analyse the conduct of past elections in other states, and monitor upcoming elections. The group will also address broader concerns surrounding electoral integrity and ensure that any irregularities are promptly reported and acted upon.
