Congress’ Alka Lamba to take on CM Atishi from Kalkaji in Delhi elections: Sources
New Delhi: South Delhi’s Kalkaji is set to witness a fight between Chief Minister and AAP candidate Atishi and Congress’s Alka Lamba in the upcoming Delhi elections, according to sources. Alka Lamba, according to reports, has told the Congress high command that she is ready for the fight. Her name will be announced on January 3.
The decision was put on hold after the demise of former Prime Minister and Congress stalwart Dr Manmohan Singh last week.
The Congress has released two lists of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. AAP has announced candidates for all the seats, while BJP is yet to come up with its list of candidates. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, a three-term MLA from New Delhi, also faces a tough fight against Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit. Dikshit is son of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
In another high-profile seat, Congress’s Farhad Suri will take on former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia from Jangpura. Sisodia is MLA from Patparganj.
The elections for the 70-member Delhi assembly will most likely take place in February 2025. AAP, which is in power for the last 10 years has issued a slew of promises to win a third straight term, while, both BJP and Congress will try to win back the power in the city. The current assembly’s term is set to end on February 23, 2025.
