New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has declared 2025 as the ‘Year of Reforms,’ a pivotal step in modernising the armed forces. The aim is to transform the military into a technologically advanced, combat-ready force equipped for multi-domain integrated operations. Another crucial aspect of the reforms is to position India as a credible exporter of defence products. This will be achieved by promoting research and development, facilitating partnerships between Indian defence companies and foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and integrating innovative technologies.

Inter-service cooperation

Measures will also be taken to enhance inter-service cooperation through joint training and exercises. The ministry also plans to simplify acquisition processes inorder to expedite the development of defence capabilities, while fostering greater collaboration between the defence sector and civil industries through technology transfers and public-private partnerships.

The ‘Year of Reforms’ also aims to strengthen civil-military coordination, breaking down silos to eliminate inefficiencies and optimise resource utilisation.
