Chennai airport bomb threat: 2 school students held for hoax call

Chennai: The Chennai airport police have apprehended two school students responsible for making a bomb threat to Chennai airport through a cell phone call. The students, both in Plus-1, confessed to the crime and were let off with a stern warning.

Yesterday afternoon, Chennai airport received a mysterious call claiming bombs were planted in the toilet, prompting immediate action from airport officials and bomb experts. A thorough search with sniffer dogs yielded no explosives, revealing the call to be a hoax.

Investigation traced the call to Selaiyur police station area near Tambaram, Chennai. Special Force Police arrested the two students, seized the cell phone used for the threat, and brought them to the Chennai airport police station.

During interrogation, the students admitted their mistake, pleading ignorance and seeking forgiveness. Police summoned their parents, issued a stern warning, and advised them to monitor their children’s activities.

The students wrote apology letters and were released to their parents last night. The swift response and resolution of the incident ensured minimal disruption to airport operations.
