Chandigarh: After Parliament, the fight over Home Minister Amit Shah’s controversial statement on Dr BR Ambedkar has reached Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. On Tuesday, Congress and BJP councillors were at each other’s throat over Ambedkar ‘insult’ issue during the general house meeting of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (CMC).
The scuffles broke out after Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillors passed a motion against Home Minister Amit Shah over his purported comments on Dr BR Ambedkar in the Lok Sabha during a debate on 75 glorious journey of constitution in Parliament.
In a show of unity, the Congress and AAP demanded Amit Shah’s his resignation. BJP members in the house accused the Congress of trying to belittle Dr Ambedkar during first PM Jawaharlal Nehru’s time.
