BJP is working on a detailed plan to address major issues in Delhi, including pollution, water scarcity, and poor road conditions. According to party sources, the third part of its manifesto will focus on making Delhi a world-class city. Measures like free bus travel for everyone from October to February, construction of a dam to tackle water shortages and road infrastructure development are expected to be key highlights.

South Delhi MP and manifesto committee convenor Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said that the party’s vision includes transforming Delhi’s neglected roads into highways of national standards. He criticized AAP government for failing to improve road conditions despite being in power for ten years. BJP will also showcase achievements like national highways and flyovers constructed by the central government while comparing them to Delhi’s current state.

Here’s what’s likely to be included in third manifesto:

Free bus travel

To combat Delhi’s rising air pollution, BJP plans to increase the number of buses from 2,500 to 10,000 and make bus travel free for all, including men, women, and the wealthy, for four months starting in October. The free travel initiative aims to encourage people to leave their vehicles at home and reduce traffic emissions during the city’s most polluted months.

Resolving water crisis

Another significant proposal is the construction of a dam at the Wazirabad water treatment plant to address Delhi’s persistent water scarcity. According to the party, this measure will improve water storage and availability. Additionally, a revamped drainage system is being planned to tackle waterlogging problems and ensure better water management throughout the city.

Focus on cleaning Yamuna

The BJP’s manifesto will also include plans to clean Yamuna River and improve Delhi’s drainage system. Ensuring 24-hour access to clean water and enhancing government hospitals are also part of the proposed measures. Bidhuri said the party has gathered these suggestions from citizens during its sankalp patra (resolution letter) campaign.

The third part of the manifesto aims to address pollution and infrastructure issues that, according to the BJP, have made Delhi less appealing to residents and migrants alike. “Delhi used to be a city of dreams, but now people don’t want to live here due to pollution,” said Bidhuri.
