PAN-Aadhaar linking: Step-by-step guide to check status online

New Delhi: The Aadhaar Card is unarguably the most important document that every Indian citizen must have right now. It has a unique 12-digit number which issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to every Indian citizen. The identification number enables access to cardholder’s details from the government database like contact information and more importantly, the biometrics.

Any person, irrespective of age and gender, can enrol for an Aadhaar number voluntarily provided that the person is a resident of India. The enrolment process does not require any cost and after the enrolment, the details of the individual are permanently stored in the database. One person can have only one Aadhaar number. On the other hand, the PAN is a 10-digit Unique Identification number which is written in a card that the Income Tax Department provides. The PAN Card is a physical card which contains the PAN and other details of a person. It is used as proof of identity or to furnish proof of date of birth.

The Government of India has made it mandatory to link the Aadhaar Card with the PAN Card. All holders of PAN cards must link them with their Aadhaar cards. But there can be doubt if it is already linked. In this article, we inform you about how to check the PAN-Aadhaar linking status.
