New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old woman died after falling from the 13th floor of an under-construction building in Bengaluru. The woman was reportedly filming a social media reel at the building in Rayasandra near Parappana Agrahara, South Bengaluru. The victim identified as Nandini had gone to attend a party at the building, accompanied by 3 friends, when the incident took place, police said.
An official said, “They were partying and the woman fell into a shaft, where a lift was supposed to be installed in the future,” an official said. Her body was later discovered by a passerby lying on the road.
Woman had argument with friends: Police
Reports said that a dispute broke out between the group over a relationship issue. Amidst the heated argument, Nandini decided to go to the terrace to make a “sad reel” and fell into the lift shaft space, said police officials. During the investigation however, the police did not discover any such reel on the woman’s phone.
The police traced one of Nandini’s friends, who was present with her at the under-construction site. Upon questioning, she revealed that she along with other 2 friends fled from the scene when they found Nandini lying in a pool of blood. The victim hailed from Bihar, and worked as a sales executive at a shopping mart in Bengaluru.
Investigations underway
The DCP (South East) confirmed the incident, saying, “Yes, they were partying in the building. They later went to the terrace to record reels, and she slipped and fell to her death. As of now, we are unaware if a relationship issue led to this. Everything is under investigation. A case has been registered under the Unnatural Death Report (UDR).”
Based on a friend’s statement, the police registered an unnatural death report. All possible angles are being investigated in the case.
