Only number of registrations is being made public

The state government said only the number of registrations under UCC will be publicly available. This is now visible on the website, the additional secretary Kukreti said in a press release. Besides this, only a person who has applied for a service under the Uniform Civil Code can seek information related to his application either on his own or by making a joint application with another person. No other person will have access to the information, the state government has clarified.

Strict action against responsible party in case of misuse of the information

Additional secretary Kukreti further said that information about UCC registrations will be sent to the police station for record keeping. The SHO of the police station concerned would be able to access the information only under the supervision of the SSP. She also made it clear that strict action would be taken at any level in case of any issue of the information. Action will be taken against the responsible party as per rule, the press release, issued by the state government, further mentioned.

The UCC has already come into force in the state and there was concern among people about the confidentiality of the information given at the time of registration. This has apparently prompted the state government to make it clear that no personal information will be shared with any third party.
