Badrinath to receive 24×7 power supply as Uttarakhand govt approves new substation

Dehradun: Uttarakhand chief secretary Radha Raturi, who chaired the meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) in the state secretariat on Thursday, approved the revised estimate of the construction work of 33/11 kV substation and HT/LT line in Badrinath Dham under Shri Badrinath Dham Master Plan project.

Besides, the revised estimate of the construction work of a road from Bageshwar-Amsarkot to Nandigaon, which falls under the Bageshwar district, was also approved under the State Plan at the meeting. The meeting also cleared the revised estimate of civic amenity building construction work, sponsored by NHPC, in Shri Badrinath Dham area.

Construction of power substation means 24×7 power supply in Badrinath shrine

Following the completion of construction work of the 33/11 KV substation and the HT/LT line in Badrinath, there will be availability of 24 x7 power in Shri Badrinath Dham. 33/11 KV substation and 33 KV bay will be also constructed. It is also proposed that the 19.5 km power line of 33 KV will be constructed from Pandukeshwar substation to Shri Badrinath Dham along with 11 KV underground power line. Under this project, UPCL will establish Uttarakhand’s first Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) in Badrinath.

The road construction from Bagshwar-Amsarkot to Nandigaon is important for the locals

Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi said that the construction of a motor road from Bageshwar-Amsarkot to Nandigaon under Bageshwar district, is an important rural road. People of Nadigaon area will benefit from this road. Alternative alignment is not possible from any other place for this road. Therefore, it will be possible to construct the road in the current alignment only. She gave instructions to pay special attention to complete the construction work within stipulated time, besides ensuring the quality of the road.

Proposed Civic Amenity Building in Badrinath Dham will serve multipurpose

Referring to the importance of the proposed construction of the NHPC-sponsored Civic Amenity Building in Shri Badrinath Dham area, chief secretary Raturi reminded the officers about the unexpected increase in the number of pilgrims visiting the Dham. She added Badrinath Dham master plan was announced by the PM Narendra Modi. Under this project, construction of Civic Amenity Building is a part. She also highlighted the shortage of Haat (market), rest arrangements for pilgrims as well as VVIPs in Badrinath Dham. The state government wants to promote local products for the pilgrims and other people coming to the Dham.
