Maharashtra reports 45 new Covid cases, Mumbai worst hit

Maharashtra reports 45 new Covid cases, Mumbai worst hit

Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 45 new cases of Covid on May 23. Out of these, 35 cases were from Mumbai, 4 from Pune, 2 each from Kolhapur and Raigad, and one each from Latur and Thane.

23 Covid cases reported in DelhiKerala records highest number of Covid cases

Since January 2025, a total of 6,819 people have been tested for Covid in Maharashtra. Out of these, 210 were found to be positive. Mumbai has seen the highest number of cases in the state, a total of 183. Among them, 81 patients have recovered while others have shown only mild symptoms.

23 Covid cases reported in Delhi

Apart from Maharashtra, new cases have also been reported from other states. In Bengaluru, a nine-month-old baby was found infected on May 23. Telangana also reported one new case, while Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh recorded four cases.

In Delhi, the number of active Covid cases has increased to 23. Health Minister Pankaj Singh reviewed the situation and instructed the health department to stay alert and take all necessary steps to control the spread.

Kerala records highest number of Covid cases

Kerala has seen the highest number of Covid cases this month, with 273 cases reported so far in May. Due to the rising numbers, health officials have been told to increase alertness and boost surveillance efforts.

Globally, cases of Covid are also going up in countries like Thailand, China, Hong Kong and Singapore. A new variant called JN.1 is currently the most common cause of infections. This variant leads to symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, headache, fever, and in some cases, loss of smell.
