Today weather report: Heavy rainfall warning for Punjab, Gujarat, other states | Check IMD forecast

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a rainfall alert in several northwest states including Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand, The weather department has also said that heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is likely to continue in many parts of central, east and northeast India during next seven days.

Southwest monsoon advanced over some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu, according to the IMD. The weather office said that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Rajasthan, Punjab,
Haryana, Delhi and remaining parts of west Uttar Pradesh during next 36 hours.

The Met department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat and Maharashtra. West Bengal may also receive widespread rain this week, according to the IMD.

The south Bengal districts of Hooghly, South 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura and Paschim Bardhaman may experience heavy rainfall from June 25 to 27, while sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalapiguri and Cooch Behar would receive heavy downpour on June 25, 28 and 29, the IMD said.
