Kolkata: On Thursday morning, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire in a high-security zone of Patna. The incident takes place a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Bihar, and as per police, it has raised concern as the spot is only some metres away from the official residences of several top leaders and bureaucrats.
Notably, the site is also close to the official residences of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, and Leader of Opposition on the state Assembly Tejashwi Yadav. The incident took place at 1 Polo Road in Patna. It is in the VIP Kaushal Nagar area under the jurisdiction of the Airport police station.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sachivalaya-1) Anu Kumari, “Immediately after receiving the information, a team from the Airport Police Station reached the spot and recovered a spent cartridge. According to eyewitnesses, two motorcycle-borne miscreants fired at a local person, identified as Rahul, and fled. Rahul was unhurt.”

RJD leader and the Opposition leader in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav took to X (formerly Twitter) and slammed the state government over the incident. He wrote in a post, “Today a bullet was fired outside my residence. In the demonic rule of NDA, the morale of the criminals protected by the government is so high that in the high security zone, at a short distance from the Governor’s residence Raj Bhawan, Chief Minister’s residence, Leader of the Opposition’s residence, Judge’s residence and the airport, the dreaded criminals are roaming around openly firing. Beware! What if someone calls it Jungle Raj? Anyway, the Prime Minister is coming to Bihar tomorrow, so the Godi media has to maintain a positive image.”

The police have registered a case and are trying to find the miscreants. Hence, it has raised tremendous alarm ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Siwan on June 20.
