Leh-bound IndiGo flight suffers glitch, returns to Delhi after 2 hours in air

New Delhi: A Leh-bound IndiGo flight returned to Delhi airport after two hours in air on Thursday morning. The Delhi-Leh flight suffered a technical snag following which it was forced to return to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The A320 aircraft, operating the flight 6E 2006 from Delhi to Leh, returned to the national capital after being airborne for over two hours, as per information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com. There was a technical issue due to which the aircraft returned to Delhi.

The flight took off from Delhi at 6.30am and was scheduled to arrive in Leh by 7.50am. However, shortly before reaching Leh, the aircraft was turned back as a precaution and landed safely in Delhi. Around 180 people, including crew members, were on board. An alternative aircraft was arranged for the flyers for their onward journey, the airline said.

“IndiGo flight 6E 2006 operating from Delhi to Leh today, returned to origin due to a technical issue which caused operational restrictions to land in Leh. As per procedures, the pilot returned back to Delhi. The aircraft is undergoing necessary maintenance before resuming operations. In the meanwhile, an alternative aircraft has been arranged to fly the customers to Leh,” the airline said.

“Passengers were accommodated on another aircraft arranged by the airline to ensure minimal disruption to their travel plans. No injuries or emergencies were reported on board,” it added.
