Dehradun: A heated altercation between two groups over a vehicle collision on Suryadhar Road, Bhogpur, escalated into a violent brawl, prompting swift police intervention.

The Ranipokhari police station responded immediately, arresting nine individuals and seizing two vehicles involved in the incident.

Collision sparks chaos

The incident unfolded when a Scorpio (UK 07FW7383) and a Verna (UK 07DC2121) collided head-on, leading to a dispute between the drivers and passengers. As tempers flared, one group resorted to stone-pelting, while a driver from the opposing side allegedly attempted to run over a person. Upon receiving an emergency call regarding this abuse and ruckus, the Ranipokhari police force rushed to the scene, swiftly controlling the situation before further escalation.

Immediate police action

Recognizing the threat to public safety, the police seized both vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act and took legal action against all involved parties. The nine individuals arrested in connection with the incident were identified as: The residents of Dehradun involved in the incident are Shivam (Subhash Nagar, Clement Town), Rishi Choudhary (Subhash Nagar, Clement Town), Jassi Singh (Chandmari, Doiwala), Adarsh Kumar (Chandmari, Doiwala), and Suryansh (Kudka Wala, Doiwala). Meanwhile, the individuals from Rishikesh include Aditya Petwal (Ashutosh Nagar), Sonu (14 Biga), Angad Gaur (Tapovan, Muni Ki Reti, Tehri), and Rishi Verma (Tapovan, Muni Ki Reti, Tehri).

Restoring order & legal proceedings

The police ensured that the situation was brought under control, preventing further public disturbance. The arrested individuals are now facing legal proceedings, with authorities investigating the full extent of the altercation.

Public safety & law enforcement

Police officials have urged citizens to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid engaging in violent confrontations. Authorities have also reminded vehicle owners to exercise caution on the roads, emphasizing that reckless behavior and public disturbances will not be tolerated. With legal action underway, the police continue to monitor the situation, ensuring that justice is served and that such incidents do not disrupt public harmony in the future.
