New Delhi: On Monday evening, about 8 to 10 suspicious drones were spotted in Kolkata’s Bhowanipore, Hastings, Maidan, and Rabindra Sadan at around 8:30 pm. The drones were seen in a no-fly zone near important places in the city, like Vijay Durg (formerly Fort William), the Army Eastern Command Headquarters, and the Victoria Memorial. The police are investigating the matter to find out who was involved in operating the drone.
The Kolkata Police has confirmed the presence of the drones and the Indian Army is investigating it. According to police, the drones came from Maheshtala area in Kolkata and flew towards Vijay Durg. Since Vijay Durg is a military fort, the area is marked ‘Red Zone’. There is a ban on flying anything related to drones. Therefore, there is a mystery surrounding the drones seen on Monday night.
Currently, drones are used in many cases. They are used to capture various events, even for surveillance by the police administration. But the presence of these drones have alarmed the Army and the police, and the main question right now is what kind of drones were there on Monday night in the sky of Kolkata. The matter can also be just a rumour and such theories have not been discarded. The Indian Army is currently investigating the alleged incident.
Notably, during the India-Pakistan military tension, all the state governments were warned about the threat of Pakistani attacks. Infact, Pakistan tried to attack with drones, which were shot down by the Indian Armed Forces. Currently, there is a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. However, the Indian government has asked the states to be on alert. That is why the Armed Forces have implemented tight surveillance. In this context, many people are considering the news of drones in the sky of Kolkata as a cause for concern.
