‘The migratory bird is flying…’: TMC MP Saket Gokhale takes dig at PM Modi ahead of his Bengal visit

New Delhi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to West Bengal, Trinammol Congress MP Saket Gokhale took a swipe at him, calling the PM a “migratory bird”. He urged PM Modi to clarify the stand on the pending central funds amounting to Rs 1.7 lakh crore for the state, after his claim that the people were “tired of the corruption and poor administration” under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party.

Taking to X, Gokhale wrote: “The migratory bird is flying to Bengal today as elections are next year. The people of Bengal have faced nothing but DEPRIVATION at the hands of the Modi Govt. since 2021 after we @AITCofficial defeated his party BJP. Over 1.7 lakh crores of Bengal’s dues have been withheld from our people.”

He added that NDA stood for National Deprivation Alliance. The TMC MP appealed to the PM to answer two questions when he meets the people of Bengal.

“When are you releasing the pending dues of the people of Bengal? Public funds are not your personal bank account that you can stop paying at your will,” he said.

The second question is: “When are you releasing a White Paper demanded by @abhishekaitc listing out how much has been given to Bengal under MNREGA & AWAS since 2021?” Gokhale added that the BJP will face a humiliating defeat in 2026 and the people of Bengal will outrightly reject him.

Gokhale’s post came just after PM Modi posted on X-handle: “I will be addressing a BJP West Bengal public meeting in Alipurduar tomorrow afternoon. Over the last decade, the various schemes of the NDA Government have been greatly appreciated by the people of West Bengal. At the same time, they are tired of the corruption and poor administration of the TMC.”
