Dehradun: In a major development, the Uttarakhand cabinet has decided to form a council that will help in the more systematic management of pilgrimage sites in the state including Adi Kailash Yatra and Char Dham. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Sharing details, his office said that the council is needed to manage pilgrims in an even better manner in various temples in the state due to the increasing rush every year. The council will help in creating and strengthening infrastructures for pilgrims and make their journey to pilgrimage sites more comfortable. The state government will also provide a separate budgetary provision for the council.

‘Unprecedented increase in number of devotees’

“There has been an unprecedented increase in the number of devotees coming to the state for the Char Dham dham Yatra, Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, Purnagiri Yatra, and Adi Kailash Yatra in recent years. Therefore, it was decided to form a separate unit—Uttarakhand Dharamsva and Tirthatan Parishad for their management and systematic operation,” the news agency quoted the person as saying.
