‘Diplomat working tirelessly for our nation’: Owaisi criticises trolls targeting foreign secretary Misri

New Delhi: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has hit out at the trolls targeting Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri after the government announced the ceasefire with Pakistan. Misri, who has been the face of government, has been giving briefings on Operation Sindoor along with Colonel Sophiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

Taking to X, Owaisi said: “Mr Vikram Misri is a decent and an honest hard-working diplomat working tirelessly for our Nation. Our civil servants work under the Executive this must be remembered & they shouldn’t be blamed for the decisions taken by The Executive /or any Political leadership running Watan E Aziz.”

Congress leader Salman Anees Soz also slammed the trollers and defended Misri. “Vikram Misri, a Kashmiri, has done India proud. No amount of trolling can diminish his service to the country. If you can’t say thank you, learn to shut up,” he pointed out. Former External Affairs Minister and Congress leader Salman Khurshid also reportedly said in an interview to NDTV that targeting Misri was “very, very sad”.

Earlier, former diplomat Navdeep Suri said the trolling of Misri is “shameful”. On X, he posted: “It is absolutely disgusting to see the trolls target Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and his family. He has been a picture of professionalism – calm, composed, measured and articulate. But that’s not enough for the bloodlust of a section of our society. Shameful.”

On Sunday, Misri locked his X account after facing online abuse and doxxing over the social media plaform. A segment of social media users reportedly used abusive language and launched personal attacks at Misri and even targeted his daughters, following India’s agreement with Pakistan to cease military actions.
