India-Pakistan tensions: Blackout advisory issued in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh

Bilaspur: As tensions between India and Pakistan rise, the administration in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh has issued an advisory for people. This advisory issued in public interest asked people to ensure a complete blackout in their respective areas to minimise risk of a potential air attack.

Advisory for safety of citizens

The administration said that the advisory was to ensure safety and security of citizens. The District Magistrate advised people to switch off all lights, both inside and outside their houses at night. People have also been advised to remain sheltered inside their homes and avoid unnecessary travel.

The advisory also appealed for limited vehicular movement at night, which would help security forces to function smoothly, in case there is an emergency. The advisory read, “This advisory has been issued in public interest. The administration requests strict compliance from all residents. Restraint and vigilance are the strongest shields in such situations.”

Bilaspur shares a border with Punjab, which is on high alert following an attempted attack on Indian cities by Pakistani drones. India thwarted attempts by Pakistan to launch a fresh attack, through drones on Thursday. As many as 50 drones were shot down by the Indian armed forces. Pakistan had targeted military sites in Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur. A total of 15 cities were targeted.

The Defence Ministry said that Pakistan attempted to launch drone attacks in Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj on Thursday night. However it was not successful.

The tensions between the 2 countries, which were already high, following the Pahalgam terror attack escalated further after India carried out ‘Operation Sindoor’, hitting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). India targeted 9 terror camps, of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hijbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba located in Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistan and in Kotli in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
