‘Ask PM on what reply should be given to Pakistan’: JKNC President Farooq Abdullah

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Farooq Abdullah said ask the Prime Minister about what reply should be given to Pakistan, following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. He was responding to a question asked by a reporter as he was on his way to attend the special session of J&K assembly in Jammu on Monday.

Earlier, Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha called the special J&K assembly session over the Pahalgam terror attack following advice from the Omar Abdullah-led government.

House unequivocally ‘condemns the heinous, cowardly act’

The special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly paid tributes to the victims of the April 22 Pahalgam attack. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather presided over the session, which was called following a summon issued under Section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

During the session, deputy chief minister Surinder Choudhary stated that the House unequivocally “condemns the heinous, cowardly act” and that it expresses solidarity with all the victims.

“This House unequivocally condemns the heinous, cowardly act that resulted in the loss of innocent lives. This House stands in full solidarity with the victims and their families. This House salutes the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who, while bravely attempting to save tourists, laid down his life,” he said.

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah underlined that strong action should be taken against terrorists. As the crackdown against suspected terrorists continued, Omar Abdullah in a post on X said: “After the Pahalgam terror attack, there must be a decisive fight against terrorism and its origin. People of Kashmir have come out openly against terrorism and the murder of innocent people, they did this freely & spontaneously.”

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former CM Mehbooba Mufti pointed out that it was necessary that civilians and terrorists are distinguished during counterterror operations following the attack.
