New Delhi: Taking a dig at Congress over its recent poll debacle in Delhi assembly election, BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Monday pointed at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi stating, “Rahul ji, zero check karlijiye, (Rahul ji, please check the zero.)”
During a Lok Sabha debate on the Union Budget, Thakur raised a sign that read, “12,00,000 income par 0 tax,” highlighting the tax relief for the middle class underlined in the recent Budget. He then turned his attention to Congress’ electoral show in Delhi.
‘Ye Congress ki seaton ki baat nahi hai’
Amid protests from NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule, Thakur said, “Rahul ji, zero check kar lijiye. Ye Congress ki seaton ki baat nahi hai, (“Rahul ji, please check the zero. This is not about Congress’ seats)”.
He then listed the years 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2024, and 2025, questioning how many seats Congress had secured in Delhi in each of those years. His question was met with a resounding “zero” from BJP MPs.

In response, BJP MPs collectively shouted “zero”. Thakur added that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Congress had made a record for consistent poll debacle.

Thakur’s comment followed BJP’s emphatic victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, in which the party bagged 48 out of 70 seats. AAP could manage only 22 seats. Congress couldn’t open its account for the third straight time in Delhi polls.
The former Union minister IT minister also hit out at Congress leaders for skipping the Maha Kumbh, claiming that they might have been advised against participating in it by “Uncle Soros and Uncle Sam”.
“Maha Kumbh is going on, I also got a chance to take a holy dip. I cannot explain the sublime joy I felt. Even (former PM Jawaharlal) Nehru had taken a dip in the Kumbh but today’s generation is not ready to go.”
