‘Congress’ 1st priority is family, BJP’s priority is nation’: PM Modi in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed Rajya Sabha during the Motion of Thanks debate and praised the President’s speech, calling it “inspirational, effective and also showed the way forward to us all.” He said, “MPs from both the ruling side and the Opposition sides expressed their views here on the President’s speech the way they interpreted it.”

During his speech, PM Modi took a dig at Congress, saying that it cannot be expected to work for the development of all sections of society. He said, “Expecting ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ from Congress will be a huge mistake. It is beyond their thinking and it also doesn’t suit their roadmap because the whole party is dedicated only to one family.” He further criticized the party, saying, “Congress party’s priority is ‘family first’ and its policies around it.”

Top quotes of PM Modi

  • Honorable President had discussed in detail all the topics like India’s achievements, the world’s expectations from India, the self-confidence of the common man of India, the resolve for a developed India. She has also shown the future direction to the country. The speech of President was inspiring, effective and a guide for the future for all of us.
  • A lot has been said about ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ here. I don’t understand why people are fretting over this. It is a shared responsibility of everyone and the people of India have chosen us for exactly this. However, to expect the Congress to understand this slogan and how it works would be a major mistake. The entire party is dedicated to just one family and thus, for it to work with the motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is impossible.
  • Family first is the primary concern for Congress’ model. Thus, their policies, functioning, speeches – have all been focused to ensure this. I’m grateful to the nation for choosing us to serve for the third time. The people of India have tested our policy of progress and have seen us deliver on the promises. We’ve constantly worked with the ideal of ‘Nation First’.
  • For five-six decades, there was no alternate model for the nation. Post 2014, the nation has got an alternate model of governance. This new model isn’t focused on appeasement, but on satisfaction.
  • It would be a big mistake to expect ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ from the Congress. This is beyond their understanding and does not even shoot in their roadmap. Because when such a large party has become dedicated to one family, then ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ is not possible for it.
  • Congress had created such a model of politics in which there was a mix of lies, deceit, corruption, nepotism, appeasement etc. In the Congress model, ‘Family First’ is supreme. Therefore, its policies, ways of speaking, and behavior have been spent in handling that one thing only.
  • We have tried to ensure that India’s resources are optimally utilised. We’ve taken an approach of saturation. We’ve tried and ensured that the schemes reach the beneficiaries without any pilferages. In the last decade, we’ve worked with the ideal of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and that has brought results.
