Good news for commuters: Construction work on the 63-km Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway to be completed before time

Lucknow: In good news for commuters across Uttar Pradesh and the rest of the country, the work on the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway is expected to be completed in three months. As per officials close to 75 percent of the work has been completed. Built under the Centre’s Bharatmala project, the total cost of the project is Rs 4,700 crore It will also have an 18-km elevated route, which will connect Banthra to Shahid Path. The expressway will be of 8-lane.

Notably, the total length of the entire route is 63 kilometer. The speed limit in this route once inaugurated will be 120 kilometre/hour. The distance between Lucknow to Kanpur will be reduced to 40 minutes as against 3-4 hours earlier. While the deadline for the project is July, the same may be completed ahead of the scheduled time.

Expressway to connect several places in Uttar Pradesh

The expressway will connect areas like Bani, Banthra, Taura, Datouli Kantha, Amarsas, Rawal Marg and Nyaurana. Among the prime features of the project includes three large bridges and 28 small bridges. The expressway will also have 38 underpasses, which will help in the smooth travel of commuters. This route will help to boost the economy, as a large number of trucks carrying goods will also pass through this expressway.

The government looking to link 15 expressways

Meanwhile, the government is looking to link 15 expressways across Uttar Pradesh which will spa more than 2,700 kilometres. Once completed, these expressways will help commuters in reaching reach one corner of the state to another through e-way.

Of these 15 expressways, six of them comprising 1,224 kilometers are under operation already, while five more, with a total of 945 kilometers are under construction. Four more lanes spanning over 55 kilometres are expected to be built soon. The Delhi-Meerut Expressway (96 km) was also built after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP Government came to power.
