‘I was shocked’: Bihar man sues Rahul Gandhi over loss of milk worth Rs 250

Patna: A Bihar resident has taken legal action against Congress leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, claiming his “fight against the Indian state” remark caused him such shock that he dropped a pail of milk, resulting in a loss of Rs 250. Mukesh Chaudhary, a resident of Sonupur village in Samastipur district, filed a petition in the civil court of Rosera sub-division.

Chaudhary alleges that Gandhi’s statement left him so stunned that he dropped his five-liter bucket of milk, priced at Rs 50 per liter. He believes Gandhi’s words threatened the nation’s sovereignty. His petition seeks to try Gandhi under various sections of the BNS, including sedition (Section 152). It is currently unclear whether the court has admitted the petition.

“I was in such a state of shock that my bucket full of five litres of milk, priced at Rs 50 per litre, slipped off my hand. Rahul Gandhi was threatening the sovereignty of the nation,” alleged Chaudhary.

Gandhi’s remarks have drawn widespread criticism, including from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda, who accused Congress leaders of lacking historical understanding and simply parroting speeches written by others. Nadda highlighted the phrase “Fight against the Indian State” as particularly concerning.

“Today the Congress leaders talk about ‘Fight against the Indian State.’ You must have heard Rahul Gandhi say, ‘Fight against the Indian State.’ They neither know about history nor have anything to do with it. I have said many times that their speechwriters write anything and they just read it anywhere,” Nadda said on Sunday.

The controversy stems from Gandhi’s assertion that the “BJP and RSS have captured every single institution” in the country and that the Congress is now “fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian State itself.” Following these remarks, an FIR being has been lodged against Gandhi in Guwahati, Assam, under sections 152 and 197(1)d of the BNS for “acts endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.”
