IMD weather forecast: Dense fog warning in these north Indian states for next 72 hrs

New Delhi: With the decline in temperatures, North India is under the grip of severe cold wave conditions. With severe cold, the heavy fog is also making things miserable for commuters. Many states in north India including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Union Territory of Chandigarh, have been badly affected by the foggy conditions.

The dense fog is not only disrupting road traffic but also severely affect air and railway traffic. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued issued dense fog warning during the night/early morning hours in several parts of Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh on January 16 and 17.

The warning for dense to very dense fog conditions has also been issued for some areas of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on January 16.

Dense Fog Conditions in UP Himachal

The IMD also warned that dense fog conditions are likely to continue during the night and early morning hours in some areas of Himachal Pradesh on January 17 and 18. The weather body has also predicted dense fog conditions in parts of Uttar Pradesh between Jan 17-20.

imdRajasthan will also be affected by foggy conditions on Jan 17 and 18. Foggy conditions will also prevail in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh during January 18-20.

Fog in West Bengal, Sikkim & other states

The foggy condition are also likely to prevail in Gangetic West Bengal on January 16 and in sub-Himalayan areas of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha till January 17.

Meanwhile, the fog is also likely to disrupt normal life in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura till January 18.

Cold conditions in Himachal

As per IMD predictions, Himachal Pradesh is likely to witness cold day conditions some parts of the state on January 16. For more weather updates, you can refer to IMD website here
