Islamabad: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who landed in Islamabad earlier on Tuesday, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet, attended the dinner hosted by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif this evening. He is the first finance minister to land in Pakistan in nine years , since Sushma Swaraj’s visit in 2015.
Jaishankar exchanged pleasantries with Pakistani Prime Minister during the reception which was hosted for SCO delegates in Islamabad. Both leaders warmly shook hands with each other and had a brief interaction.
Earlier this evening, Jaishankar landed at the Nur Khan Airbase. He was received at the airport by Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, Director General, South Asia ,Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan. The message was shared by the country’s foreign office on X.
