‘Some want to abolish Sanatana Dharma, some…’: VHP reacts to CM Vijayan’s remarks

New Delhi: Reacting to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s alleged remarks against Sanatan Dharma, VHP National Spokesperson Vinod Bansal said, “He is also part of the INDI Alliance. The same voice comes from Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh…Some want to abolish Sanatana Dharma and some call it a disease… And now they have started to malign the saints… It was not expected of a Chief Minister to stoop down so low for their cheap politics…”

He pointed out that some call themselves Marxists, but act like capitalists. “They make huge claims about Marxist philosophy, but…actually, they should come out of it because they have become capitalist.” Bansal underlined that to malign Hindu saints, while keeping hold on Hindu temples and sully them for cheap publicity was not expected from a CM.

The VHP spokesperson added that to speak against Sanatana Dharma at an event of a sage who has dedicated all his life for Hindutva and Sanatana Dharma, and nation-building is not completely wrong. He (the CM) should feel ashamed of himself, Bansal said.

I stand by what I have stated: Pinarayi Vijayan

Meanwhile, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday reiterated his warning about “organised efforts” to misrepresent sage and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru as a proponent of Sanatana Dharma, PTI reported. “I stand by what I have stated about Sanatana Dharma,” Vijayan said while reacting to a query about the growing criticism from the BJP over his statement made during the Sivagiri pilgrimage conference held on Tuesday.

Vijayan had asserted that the Guru, who advocated “one caste, one religion and one God for people” had neither been a spokesperson nor a practitioner of the Sanatana Dharma but had redefined it and proclaimed a Dharma suited to the new age.
