New Delhi: The BJP is preparing to announce its first list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections, with the Central Election Committee meeting scheduled for this week. Party sources said that BJP may offer tickets to some former MPs, including Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, who is set to contest against former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat.

The party is also expected to welcome senior leaders from AAP and Congress, offering them tickets for the elections. BJP has decided not to field a CM candidate, but will announce its candidates prior to the election announcement, expected in the first week of January. Surveys have been completed for every Assembly seat and a panel of three potential candidates has been shortlisted for each.

BJP’s poll strategy

BJP currently holds eight MLAs, but some may not receive tickets. Leaders who recently joined the party, such as Kailash Gehlot, Rajkumar Chauhan, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Raj Kumar Anand, are likely to be included in the list. Delhi BJP president Virender Sachdeva is also expected to be fielded. The party will give tickets to its allies JD(U) and LJP as well.

Anurag Thakur slams AAP

Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. He showed a charge sheet as evidence of their 10-year tenure marked by inefficiency and corruption. He criticised Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for failing to deliver on promises, including making Delhi pollution-free, cleaning the Yamuna and providing quality education.

Thakur showed various shortcomings of the AAP government, including over 2 lakh children not attending school, Delhi’s poor air quality and the Yamuna’s heavy pollution. He also said that 8 ministers, 1 MP and 15 MLAs have been jailed and accused the government of corruption, mismanagement and anti-national activities. Thakur added that the AAP government has set a record for corruption and dishonest and said that it is time to save Delhi from Kejriwal’s corruption.
