New Delhi: The Air India Express has clarified that ‘liquor was not exhausted’ during the inaugural 4-hour flight from Gujarat’s Surat to Thailand capital Bangkok on Friday. According to airline officials, there was good liquor sale onboard the flight. However, the airline refuted the claim made by some passengers that the alcohol ran out during the flight.

The airline used a Boeing 737-8 aircraft for the flight that carried 175 passengers and six crew members onboard. The development comes in the wake of a complete ban on consumption of Liquor in Gujarat.

On Sunday, the airline officials clarified that the flight saw a brisk alcohol sale on the Surat-Bangkok flight and there is no truth in the reports that the alcohol ran out. The claim that airline ran out of liquor was made by some passengers on social media.

The airline had sufficient stock of liquor as well as food onboard the flight, PTI quoted airline officials as saying. However, the Tata Group that owns the Air India Express has given no official statement on the issue.

Usually, a passenger is not served more than 100 ml of liquor during a flight, said officials. The Air India Express offers five types of liquor during the flight.

Liquor price on airline

Rs 600 is charged for a 50 ml peg of Chivas Regal. While 50 ml of Red Label also costs Rs 600. Bacardi White Rum and Beefeater Gin cost Rs 400. The airline also offers 330 ml Bira Lager for Rs 400.

Meanwhile, the passengers can also order food onboard. They can either pre-book or purchase it during the flight.
