The court has directed Khalid to surrender before the jail authorities in the evening of January 3 next year.

Khalid’s appeal against dismissal of second regular bail plea is pending before High Court

The Delhi High Court denied Khalid bail in the case in October 2022 and he challenged the High Court order before the Supreme Court. However, he later withdrew his plea from the top court and filed a second regular bail plea before the trial court, which rejected his plea earlier this year. His appeal against the dismissal of his second regular bail plea is currently pending before the High Court.

Delhi Police arrested Khalid in September 2020 in 2020 Delhi riots case

The Delhi Police arrested Khalid in September 2020 in the 2020 Delhi riots case and he, along with Sharjeel Imam and several others, was booked under the provisions of the UAPA and various other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly being the “masterminds” of the February 2020 Delhi riots in the national capital in which 53 persons lost their lives and over 700 were injured.
