Shocking! Devotees drink AC water thinking it may be ‘Charan Amrit’ at UP temple

Vrindavan: A viral video from UP’s famous Banke Bihari Mandir showed devotees standing in queue to drink AC water mistaking it for “Charan Amrit” or holy water from the feet of Lord Krishna. The clip ignited a discussion on social media. Many were quick to blame the crowd’s actions on the blind herd mentality among Indians.

The clip featured several devotees standing in line to collect the dripping water from an elephant sculpture on the wall. While some collected the water in cups and gulped it, others held their palms together under the sculpture and consumed a mouthful of the trickling “holy water”. The clip also featured an individual warning devotees that the water was just AC discharge. However, nothing stopped the crowd from continuing to drink the water.

A report by Jagran confirmed that the water mistaken for holy “Charan Amrit” was simply AC water. It also claimed that the water ran through tubes shaped like elephant heads– designed to blend in with the temple architecture. The footage from the popular Vrindavan temple garnered several comments. Many called out the ignorant herd mentality and the lack of judgement among devotees.

One witty individual said, “Who knew a little AC could turn into a divine experience? Just wait until they start calling it ‘Heavenly Hydration!” Another commented, “It describes how people can be influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviours.” Others simply called the crowd foolish and gullible. The video gained massive traction with more than 2.8 million views on social media.
