Chennai: The Chennai Regional Centre (RMC) has issued a weather alert, predicting heavy rains in Tamil Nadu today and tomorrow due to a low-pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal. An atmospheric low-level circulation prevails over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining areas, while an upper-level circulation exists over southwest Bay of Bengal and south Andhra Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department has also warned that the low-pressure area is likely to intensify into a depression during the first weekend of November, bringing very heavy rainfall to Tamil Nadu between November 7 and 11.
