India-China disengagement complete in eastern Ladakh’s Depsang and Demchok: Report

New Delhi: After four years of tensions along Indo-China border in eastern Ladakh, the disengagement between Indian and Chinese forces in Depsang and Demchok plains has been completed, media reports said citing sources.

With this disengagement, the four-year military standoff has ended between the two nuclear neighbours. It is also reported that the two sides plan to distribute sweets on Thursday when India will celebrate Diwali, the festival of light.

India and China announced the patrolling agreement on October 21 along the Line of Control. The development signaled progress in talks that led to resolving the military standoff. In June 2020, Indian and Chinese forces indulged in bloody clashes that led to killing of soldiers on both sides.
