Patna: After giving a nod to implement the domicile policy for giving 35 per cent reservation to women belonging to Bihar in all the government jobs, the state will implement domicile policy in the appointment of school teachers.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday directed the education department officials to amend the relevant rules to give priority to the people of Bihar in the teacher appointment. The necessary amendment in relevant rules will come into effect from TRE-4 which is scheduled to be held this year (2025) and TRE-5 which will be held in 2026.

Notably, Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) holds Teacher Recruitment Examination to fill teaching positions across primary, secondary and senior secondary schools of the state. Kumar has also directed the officials concerned to hold STET prior to holding TRE-5 next year.

“We have been constantly working to improve the education system of the state ever since our government was formed in November 2005. Teachers have been appointed in large numbers in order to strengthen the education system,” Kumar said in a post on social media platform X.

“The education department has been directed to amend the relevant rules to give priority to the people of Bihar in the teacher appointment,” Kumar added. The decision of implementing domicile policy would benefit the youths of the state (Bihar) as it would give priority to them in appointments over the youths of other states. The long pending demand of implementing domicile policy has finally been fulfilled by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

It may be noted that that state government on July 8 last, the state approved 35 per cent reservation in all the government jobs “only for women hailing from the state (Bihar)”. The women from the state has been getting the benefit of 35 per cent of reservation in state government jobs since 2016. Women from other states used to get the benefit of the reservation earlier but now the facility for them cease to exist.
