Diwali weather forecast: Tamil Nadu to experience dry weather with scattered rains

The weather department’s seven-day forecast indicates scattered rains across the state, with the highest likelihood on Diwali. Residents are advised to check updates for localized weather conditions to plan their festivities accordingly.

This Deepavali, Tamil Nadu is set for largely dry weather, allowing for uninterrupted celebrations. K Srikanth from Chennai Rains forecasts rain only in southern parts, while most areas, including Chennai, remain dry with warmer-than-normal temperatures. Fireworks enthusiasts can enjoy favorable weather conditions for celebrations. The state has received 208.3 mm of rain so far this Northeast Monsoon, a 53% surplus. Widespread monsoon rains are expected to resume by early November.

“Diwali may be dry over most of Tamil Nadu including Chennai but this spell of weak Northeast monsoon 2024 is not a cause of concern. South TN may continue to see moderate rains for the next couple of days. Drier weather means Chennai may be warmer than normal until rains return after Diwali, Srikanth predicted and he added that “Warmer than normal day time conditions to continue over North Tamil Nadu including Chennai and suburbs as northeast monsoon remains weak and dry weather prevails over most of the state. South TN may see light to moderate rains in a few places closer to the Ghats.”
