Policemen will visit houses of elderly people

SSP Singh has tasked the SHOs to visit the homes of elderly people who stay alone on Deepawali festival. Lamps will also be lit in the houses of elderly people by the policemen, besides offering them sweets. SSP Singh has also asked the policemen to interact with elderly people to know their problem, if any. Policemen will extend their help to elderly people. “If an old person is in no position to go to hospital, policemen will ensure availability of medical services for them,” a police source said.

Aim to make elderly people feel safe in the city

SSP Singh told reporters that the objective of this initiative is not only to share happiness, but also make elderly people feel safe in the city. During Deepawali, when houses are decorated and shopping is done, elderly people living alone feel unsafe, he said. He further added that police want to send out a message that elderly people are not alone. Police will stay with them in all situations, he said.
