Kannur: Minutes after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan unveiled the book named ‘Muslim politics, political Islam’ written by senior CPI(M) leader P Jayarajan in Kozhikode, PDP leaders and activists across Kerala protested against the CPI(M) leader alleging that Jayarajan is trying to distort facts and target the minority community by coming up with false narrations.
“Jayarajan who is a senior CPM leader has distorted the facts. He is echoing the same view as that of the RSS and the Sangh Parivar in Kerala and across the country. Things mentioned in the book are absolute false and incorrect. We will continue to protest against such moves”, said a senior PDP leader from Kannur.
‘Jamat E Islami’ is a threat, but IUML has a different approach when it comes to religion and politics
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan who addressed the crowd in Kozhikode said that he does not endorse or agree with the entire content of the book, but agree with certain facts mentioned by P Jayarajan who is his colleague in the party.
“When it comes to radicalism, Jamat E Islami is indeed a threat to the society whereas the IUML has been a progressive party. However, off late the IUML has also connived with certain fringe groups. I will not agree with the entire contents of the book, but will agree with certain facts revealed by Jayarajan who is my party colleague”, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan
PDP leader Abdul Nazar Madani played an important role in radicalizing Muslim youth in Kerala and that could be the reason why he is labelled the ‘ambassador of extremism’, says CPM state committee member P Jayarajan.
“The series of speeches delivered by Abdul Nazar Madani throughout Kerala after the demolition of Babri Masjid played an important role kindling extremist thoughts among Muslim minorities. Madani tried to fuel extremist thoughts through his emotional speeches,” Jayarajan said in the book. He went on to add that the Islamic Sevak Sangh formed by Madani to take on RSS provided arms training to Muslim youths.
