Chennai: In a significant move, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has assigned key responsibilities to actress Gautami Tadimalla and Tada Periyasamy, who recently joined the party from BJP. Gautami will serve as AIADMK Policy Propagation Deputy Secretary, while Tada Periyasamy will be the MGR Forum Deputy Secretary.
Palaniswami announced the appointments, stating that Gautami and Tada Periyasamy will play crucial roles in the party. Fatima Ali has been appointed Deputy Secretary of the Minority Welfare Division, and Sannyasi from Kallakurichi will oversee the Agriculture Division.
Gautami, Tada Periyasamy Switch to AIADMK, Get Key Responsibilities
Gautami’s shift to AIADMK follows her dissatisfaction with BJP, where she was denied a seat in the Virudhunagar district Rajapalayam Assembly constituency despite her efforts in 2021. She left BJP last year after alleging that a party executive cheated her out of property, with no action taken.
Tada Periyasamy, former state president of BJP’s SC team, joined AIADMK after being denied a seat in his hometown Chidambaram’s Lok Sabha constituency, which was instead given to Karthiyaini from Vellore. This move is seen as Palaniswami’s effort to empower those who joined AIADMK from BJP.
CDR Nirmal Kumar, former head of BJP’s IT wing, also joined AIADMK and became the joint secretary of the IT wing. The appointments indicate AIADMK’s strategic efforts to strengthen its ranks ahead of upcoming elections.
