New Delhi: After the terror of wolves, leopards and tiger attacks are keeping the people of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich indoors. In the latest incident, a leopard attacked a man working in the fields on Sunday. The news of the attack caused shock to the man’s father, who subsequently passed away from the trauma. Later that evening, a tiger preyed on another individual in Kartaniya Ghat. Over the past 21 days, the forest department has captured six leopards.

A farmer from Triloki Gaudi in the Sujoli range, Ratiram (45), was killed by a leopard. On Sunday evening, he went to a nearby sugarcane field to collect fodder for his livestock. During this time, a leopard that had been lying in ambush attacked him, resulting in his death. The body of the deceased was found in the sugarcane field, leading to a state of panic among the local residents. Following the incident, the police station chief, Harish Singh, arrived at the scene with a team to control the situation. Sanjay Kumar, the sub-divisional magistrate of Mihimpurva, also reached the site.

Condition of injured man serious

In another incident in the Murtiha range, a leopard severely injured a young man cycling from Harakhapur to Khutehna. Anganu (40), a resident of Harakhapur, had left home after eating and was heading to Khutehna. As he approached a canal near the village, a leopard attacked him.
