The new generation of the Mini Cooper is quiet soft specially if you do not option the JCW trim. Mini has not yet revealed the full blow JCW with the ICE version so the best thing you can get for your Cooper S is an AC Schnitzer kit. AC Schnitzer is a well known brand in the BMW community and since Mini also comes under the same umbrella now, it gets similar treatment.
There are a lot of aero, chassis and visual upgrades that you can option out. To start with, there is new front splitter. There are also aero additions in front of the two side grilles. There are more aggressive side skits and a rear diffuser as well. A roof spoiler has been added to complement the aggression of all the other parts.
One major change done to the exterior is the addition of the exhaust tips. Mini doesn’t really want to be associated as an ICE vehicle manufacturer so they removed the tailpipes (bad move), so AC Schnitzer did the rightful thing and added them back. One can also option 19-inch AC Schnitzer wheels which we have seen on other models, and there are two colour options to choose from, a dual tone silver finish and black. We would definitely pick the brighter option to showcase the details of the wheels.
AC Schnitzer has also sprinkled a graphics package on top of the vehicle which for once looks quite cool instead of cheesy. The new generation does not have the fake hood scoop so the new graphics looks pretty cool in its place. It somehow gives the car more character. There is a stripe for the sides as well which reminds us of the 2 Fast 2 Furious GTR that was driven by Brian O’Conner. In terms of the interior, there is not much other than a set of aluminum pedals.
Other chassis improvements include a lowering springs kit which drops the ride height by 15-25mm and you can also get 10mm spacers to get the right fitment. AC Schnitzer has left the engine stock for now but we can expect them to introduce tunes for the new model soon enough.
