Roorkee: An LPG gas cylinder was found on the railway track near Dhanera railway station in Roorkee. This incident took place on Saturday, causing an immediate emergency response from railway authorities.
The location where the gas cylinder was found is sensitive due to its proximity to the headquarters of Bengal Engineering Group and Centre. This area is frequently used for military movements, with army vehicles and personnel transported via freight trains to various posts. Additionally, a separate railway track has been laid specifically for military operations.

The discovery of the cylinder on the tracks has heightened the seriousness of the situation. Upon spotting the gas cylinder, the pilot of the freight train activated the emergency brakes, successfully stopping the train in time. The train driver reported the incident to railway officials, who quickly arrived at the spot to remove the cylinder.
Railway police are actively investigating the case. According to reports, the driver of the freight train informed Muradabad railway control room about the cylinder on the tracks. Following this notification, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and railway staff conducted an extensive inspection, covering approximately five kilometres along the track.
Probe underway
At this time, it remains unclear who placed the gas cylinder on the railway tracks. The cylinder has been secured and placed under the custody of the station master at Dendera railway station. Authorities have filed an FIR against unknown people and have initiated an investigation into the matter to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
