Dehradun: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has awarded the ‘Eat Right Campus’ certification to the Uttarakhand Secretariat and Dehradun District Jail for their commitment to providing safe and healthy food.

On Thursday, state chief secretary Radha Raturi presented the certification, commending the secretariat administration and jail authorities for upholding high standards of food safety. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Secretariat has joined the selected secretariat campuses of the country certified as Eat Right Campus.

In a program organised on Thursday in the auditorium of the State Secretariat, state chief secretary Radha Raturi handed over the Eat Right Campus Certificate issued by the Government of India to the Secretary of Secretariat Administration Dipendra Chaudhary and Deputy Inspector General Jail Dadhiram Maurya. The CS also appreciated the Secretariat administration for this important and effective initiative and praised the efforts made by the Inspector General of Prisons.

‘Eat Right Campus’ sets a benchmark for other state government institutions

Chief Secretary Radha Raturi emphasized the importance of the Secretariat Administration’s initiative, under the aegis of the Food and Drug Administration, Uttarakhand. She highlighted that the State Secretariat, being a hub of activity with people from across the state, serves as an exemplary location. Declaring it as an ‘Eat Right Campus’ sets a benchmark for other state government institutions.

Similarly, ensuring that prisoners receive food that meets safety standards is a top priority for the government. The ‘Eat Right Campus’ certification awarded to District Jail, Suddhowala, underscores this commitment to providing safe and healthy food in state jails.

‘Eat Right Campus,’ aims to promote food safety and health

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced a special provision to ensure the availability of safe and healthy food in workplaces where employees regularly consume at least one snack or meal. This initiative, known as the ‘Eat Right Campus,’ aims to promote food safety and health.

A comprehensive safety audit was conducted for all the food outlets in secretariat

Recently, under the aegis of the Food and Drug Administration, Uttarakhand, a comprehensive food safety audit was conducted for all canteens, restaurants, and other food services operating within the State Secretariat and District Jail Complex, Sudhowala, Dehradun. As a result, food handlers working in these facilities were awarded the FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) based on their adherence to food safety standards.
