New Delhi: Chilling revelations have emerged following a probe into the death of a six-year-old girl in Gujarat’s Dahod district. The investigation has found that the Class I student was suffocated to death, allegedly by the principal of the school where she studied when the girl put up a strong resistance to his attempts to rape her. The principal then threw the victim’s body on the school premises, and put her bag and shoes near her classroom, an NDTV report said.
The accused, 55-year-old Govind Natt, has been apprehended by the police.
10 police teams were set up for probe
Senior police officer Rajdeep Singh Jhala was quoted as saying to the news outlet that the girl’s body was found on the school campus on Thursday evening. The post-mortem examination revealed that she was choked to death. After registering the case, 10 police teams were formed to investigate the matter.
The mother of the girl told the cops that she used to go to school with the principal, Govind Natt, daily. When the police interrogated the principal, he said he had dropped off the girl at the school and then gone for some work.
The police doubted his version and started tracking his phone location details on the fateful day. They found that Natt reached school late on the incident day. After he was questioned thoroughly, the principal gave in and admitted to committing the crime.
He picked her up from her home
The senior cop revealed that on that day, Natt picked up the girl from her home around 10.20 am. The girl’s mother helped her child get into the car of the principal. However, the girl didn’t reach the school. When the principal tried to rape her on the way, the girl shouted for help and resisted him, after which Natt choked the girl to death so that she stops screaming.
“After he reached the school, Naat locked the car, with the girl’s body inside it. He dumped the girl’s body around 5pm behind the school building and left her school bag and shoes near her classroom. Initially, he was in denial but our suspicion rose following the technical analysis,” Jhala pointed out.
Natt is likely to be booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
