‘Three families consider J&K as their private property’, says PM Modi in Kashmir

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed his first rally in Jammu and Kashmir amid ongoing Assembly elections here at Sher-e-Kashmir Park. While addressing the gathering, PM Modi congratulated people of the Valley for voting in large numbers in the first phase of the assembly pols that took place on September 18.

“We take immense pride in the massive turnout for voting. People from every section of the society – women, elderly, youth – participated enthusiastically. Kishtwar saw over 80% voting, Doda recorded above 71%… these figures indicate a significant surge in voter turnout, breaking previous records in several constituencies,” said PM Modi.

PM accused ‘three families’ of the state of pushing Jammu and Kashmir youth towards unemployment and terrorism. Modi said three families of the Congress, National Conference and PDP ensured that children in the state are deprived of education so that they can continue with their agendas.

“Our youth were taken away from schools and colleges and these three families (Congress, NC and PDP) were happy by putting stones in their hands. These people have ruined the future of our children for their own benefit,” said PM Modi in the rally in Srinagar.

Providing jobs, opportunities to youths here is my promise: PM Modi

While highlighting efforts of the central government’s works towards building the education infrastructure in the state, Modi said, “We will create opportunities here so that youths don’t have to leave their homes.”

“Liberating Jammu and Kashmir from terror and terrorism is our aim. Every force conspiring against Jammu and Kashmir must be defeated. Providing employment opportunities to the youth here, this is Modi’s intention, Modi’s promise. I will not let another generation of ours be destroyed at the hands of these 3 families,” added PM Modi.

PM Modi will later also address an election in Katra today.

Voting for the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly are being held in three phases. Voting for the Phase-1 was held on September 18, while the other two rounds will be held on September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes and results will be declared on October 8.
