Lakhimpur Kheri: People of Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh are already facing the twin troubles of dengue and malaria, but now a surprising case has come to light involving a health official. An ASHA worker from Lalapur village, working at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ramiyabehad, has accused the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Lalji Pasi of harassing her and pressuring her to marry him.

The harassment has escalated to such an extent that the couple felt compelled to seek help from the DM after their initial complaint to the CMO went unanswered.

Probe underway

The ASHA worker informed the DM that she had already reported the matter to CMO Dr Santosh Gupta, but no action was taken. She expressed that the continued harassment has left her mentally disturbed and fearful for her safety.

In response to the complaint, the DM has ordered an investigation into the allegations. Speaking on the matter, CMO Dr Gupta acknowledged that the ASHA worker had brought forward a complaint, including a recording of one of the calls. However, he said that the voice in the recording did not belong to the Deputy CMO and that the phone number also did not match.

Despite this, he assured that a thorough investigation is being carried out and appropriate action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
