Delhi: No sale of train tickets at THESE railway stations | Special trains announced

New Delhi: Due to the heavy crowding at railway stations during the festive season, the Western and Central Railways have temporarily halted ticket sales at 16 key stations. This decision follows an incident of stampede at a Mumbai station, where nine people were injured while boarding a train bound for Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The Northern Railway has restricted the sale of tickets in the national capital which include, New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar and Delhi Sarai Rohilla railway stations. The prohibition in these regions will be effective till November 6.

Many special trains announced

For the convenience of passengers during Diwali and Chhath, the Northern Railway will also run special trains in many region, in addition to the regular trains. Apart from this Northern Railway has also set up temporary ticket counters, help desks, food stalls, drinking water and toilet facility in the Anand Vihar Railway Station. The railways of many region have also issued the list of special trains that will operate in different parts of northern and eastern region.

Stampede incident at Mumbai station

The decision has been taken after 9 people were injured in a stampede that broke out on platform number 1 at Bandra Terminus on October 27. The incident happened when many people rushed to board on train 22921 Bandra-Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express. According to the statement of Western Railway, the incident took place at 2:45 when the train was moving slowly from Bandra Terminus to the platform. “There were many passengers who tried to board the moving train where two passengers fell and got injured,” the statement said.
