Dehradun: Reckless bike stunts on the under-construction Doon-Delhi Expressway have landed a YouTuber in trouble, as the Transport Department identified him through his viral Instagram video and issued a stern warning.
The incident highlights Uttarakhand’s growing concerns over stunt biking, prompting stricter enforcement from authorities to curb dangerous riding behaviors.
Tracking down the stunt biker
The video, originally posted by a YouTuber with the handle ‘Ashu UK Rider’, showcased dangerous stunts on a green Ninja ZX-10R bike, performed on the expressway stretch between Asharodi and Mohand. Although this highway remains incomplete and closed to public traffic, the stunt gained traction online, catching the attention of officials.
A special investigative team, tasked with monitoring stunt biking violations, identified the biker through his vehicle number. Based on this information, the RTO summoned him for questioning, marking the latest case in Uttarakhand’s crackdown against traffic rule violations.
Legal warning and consequences
Upon arrival at the RTO office in Dehradun, the YouTuber, identified as Aish Mohammad, was informed of potential legal consequences under Sections 189 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which deal with racing and reckless driving. The law states that offenders can face three months’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000, with additional penalties including vehicle seizure for repeat violations.
Facing possible legal action, Aish apologized for his actions and assured authorities that he would refrain from performing such stunts in the future. Transport officials educated him on road safety rules, explaining how reckless riding endangers not only his life but also others on the road.
Public awareness efforts
To discourage other bikers from engaging in similar stunts, the RTO filmed Aish’s public apology and released it online. Officials hope that spreading awareness through such cases will deter young riders from attempting dangerous maneuvers on highways, flyovers, and busy roads.
Authorities are particularly concerned about influencers and YouTubers, whose large social media followings might encourage reckless behavior among their audience. The RTO urged content creators to promote positive messages about road safety, emphasizing that stunt videos can lead to severe accidents among inexperienced riders.
Strict surveillance across Dehradun
The Dehradun Transport Department has tightened monitoring efforts, keeping a close watch on areas notorious for stunt biking and high-speed races. Locations such as Mussoorie Road, Haridwar Bypass, ISBT Flyover, and Raipur-Maldevta Road have seen a rise in illegal stunts, leading officials to ramp up surveillance and enforcement measures.
Officials have warned that stricter penalties will follow if such violations continue, urging bikers to respect traffic laws and ensure responsible riding. As authorities strengthen accident prevention strategies, reckless riders must realize that stunt biking is not only a legal offense but also a serious threat to life.
