Dehradun: Women from other states, who are married to a native of Uttarakhand, may not get benefits of the state reservation in the basic teacher recruitment. The department has consulted the social welfare, personnel, and law departments in this regard.

Education department also initiated action in this matter. Now, the department has begun its exercise to identify the applicants, belonging to other states and married in Uttarakhand, who have got issued reservation certificate. So far, 52 such cases have surfaced in the basic teacher recruitment.

Persons from the other states may not get benefits of the reservation given in the state government services

Referring to the Government Order (GO) issued by the personnel department on October 10, 2002, the department’s order mentioned that the state’s SCs and STs have been separately identified in the schedule five and six of the “Punargatrhan Adhiniyam”. Thus, the persons, who are from the other states, may not get benefits of the reservation given in the services of the state government.

Government order made it mandatory for the verification of the certificates issued to the successful candidates

The department has also referred to another GO issued by personnel department on February 16, 2004, to clear the picture on the reservation not to be given to the person of the other states. Then, the GO made it mandatory for the verification of the certificates issued to the successful candidates. SDM-level officers are supposed to complete the verification process within 15 days.

The department has decided to go by the GOs issued by the personnel department in 2004 in the matter involving the reservation for the applicants, belonging to other state and married in Uttarakhand, in the basic teacher recruitment.

Uttarakhand HC has lifted the interim stay on the reservation

Two days ago, the Uttarakhand High Court has lifted the interim stay on the reservation policy that mandates 33% reservation for women in cooperative societies. This decision allows elections to proceed and aims to end the male monopoly in cooperative institutions. The court’s ruling follows a petition challenging the reservation policy, and it now permits the implementation of the government’s policy to reserve 33% of chairperson and member roles for women.
